Implant Post-Op Instructions
Version 1.2·EN/ESFor the patient · keep this with you
Implant surgery is a calm, well-rehearsed procedure. The hours afterwards are simple if you follow the instructions in this document. Take it slowly. Rest the first afternoon. The studio is one message away.
01
The first six hours
- 01Bite gently on the gauze pack for the first 30 minutes. Replace if needed.
- 02Apply a cold pack to the outside of the jaw for ten minutes on, ten minutes off, for the first two hours.
- 03Do not rinse, spit, or use a straw — clot formation matters in the first 24 hours.
- 04Eat something soft and at room temperature when the anaesthesia wears off.
- 05Take the prescribed pain medication on the schedule given — not on demand.
02
Days one to seven
- 01Use the prescribed chlorhexidine mouthwash twice daily, starting day two.
- 02Eat soft foods on the opposite side from the surgical site.
- 03Sleep slightly elevated for the first two nights.
- 04Avoid heavy exercise, sauna, and steam rooms for one week.
- 05No smoking — full stop. Smoking is the single largest controllable risk to integration.
03
What to expect
Some swelling for three to four days. Some bruising on the cheek. Tightness when opening the mouth wide. All of this is normal and resolves.
04
When to call
- 01Bleeding that does not stop with gauze pressure after the first hour.
- 02Pain that escalates after day three.
- 03Numbness in the lip or chin that persists after the anaesthesia should have worn off.
- 04Visible material discharge from the surgical site.
